Occupation Set-up

UWE Occupation is now in progress.

Entering and setting up the camp at 2.30pm this afternoon, we've set up in the foyer and lecture theatre, the chapel, on St. Matthias campus. Really relaxed, as yet no reaction from the University... Very little security presence, and those who've been about have been chatting, discussing strikes and being generally friendly, they even brought us loo roll!

Within 30minutes of entering and setting up, none other than Billy Bragg made a quick visit, to give an acoustic performance and give his thoughts on the occupy movement and strikes. Both students and lecturers attended, with lots of laughter and a great start to the occupation!

Proceeding this, a short meeting was held to learn what exactly the lecturers planned for the strikes and how we can facilitate helping their cause!

An Occupation Cafe has been set-up, and a quick redecoration!

Since this we've held another meeting or two, and had the showing of a film on the Honduras Military Coup!

If anyone wishes to come down and show solidarity, the door is open and we've got hot drinks and food for all!

Our thoughts and demands will follow in the following hours/days....

Strike. Occupy. Organize.
